Been doing some artist-soul searching about the subject matter I like to draw and styles that appeal to me...and realized that I haven't drawn much just-for-fun stuff for myself, including character sheets (the last one was years ago!!!). Part of the reason why it's been so long is due to a combination of diving headlong into learning how to paint better and being told to stop drawing "anime", stop drawing so many animals. I started to think of this again after the recent hubbub about style on social media. Now a little older and wiser, I've learned that it's incredibly important for an artist to just draw what you like and not worry so much. The way I draw people is of course influenced by anime, some of my favorite shows and movies are in this art form! In addition, fantasy paintings and weird animal creatures are always going to be my thing haha. If someone ever tells you to stop drawing so much of ____, perhaps take it as "practice and learn from reference, but keep on drawing ____". So in closing to this little ramble, I was happy to draw an updated Hibana.
